Availability

Five $1,000 scholarships


Available to Flagstaff employees of Northern Arizona Healthcare who are studying or advancing their education in clinical or non-clinical health fields. (Immediate family members of Flagstaff NAH employees are also eligible.)


Clinical 

Clinical roles often have face-to-face contact with patients for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. Some clinical professions are behind-the-scenes, such as laboratory professionals whose work supports diagnosis and treatment.


Non-Clinical

Non-clinical roles are those which do not provide any type of medical treatment or testing. Non-clinical roles include medical billers and coders, transcriptionists, hospital executives, receptionists, and anyone who works behind the scenes at a hospital or medical center such as human resources, IT, biomedical technicians, and administrative assistants.

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Must be a full or part-time Flagstaff employee of Northern Arizona Healthcare. Immediate family members of Flagstaff NAH employees also qualify. An employment verification letter is required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited degree program with the intent to complete an undergraduate or graduate degree. Proof of enrollment is required.
  • Scholarship funds are for the 2023-2024 academic year and should only be used for tuition, course books, or other academic expenses.
  • Applicants may only receive up to one scholarship per year from Health First Foundation. All scholarships are awarded annually and are non-renewable.

Essay Topic

Please answer the following essay prompt

Please explain how advancing your education will contribute to one of these areas of need in northern Arizona:

  • Preventing, reducing, or mitigating chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, respiratory conditions, dental disease, and cancer
  • Improving behavioral and mental health
  • Improving access to quality health care, including preventative care and screening services

Essay Format

  • A maximum of one typed page in length
  • 1-inch margin on all sides
  • 11 point font, double spaced lines
  • Do not title or name your essay
  • Do not provide your name or identifying information in the essay
  • Save essay as a PDF to upload as part of your application

  3. Obtain proof of enrollment to upload with your application (valid documents include an unofficial transcript, registrar enrollment verification letter, or official acceptance letter).
