Availability
Three $5,000 scholarships
One scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying student in each of these programs: Northern Arizona University's concurrent nursing program with Coconino Community College, NAU's American Indian Program for nursing, and NAU's Flagstaff campus nursing program.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled in one of these three programs: Northern Arizona University's concurrent nursing program with Coconino Community College, NAU's American Indian Program for nursing, or NAU's Flagstaff campus nursing program. Proof of enrollment is required.
- Scholarship funds are for the 2023-2024 academic year and should only be used for tuition, course books, or other academic expenses.
- Applicants may only receive one scholarship per year from Health First Foundation. Scholarships are awarded annually and are non-renewable.
Essay & Application Requirements
Essay Topic
Please explain how advancing your education will contribute to one of these areas of need in northern Arizona:
- Preventing, reducing, or mitigating chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, respiratory conditions, dental disease, and cancer
- Improving behavioral and mental health
- Improving access to quality health care, including preventative care and screening services

Essay Format
- A maximum of one typed page in length
- 1-inch margin on all sides
- 11-point font, double spaced lines
- Do not title or name your essay
- Do not provide your name or identifying information in the essay
- Save essay as a PDF to upload as part of your application

- Obtain proof of enrollment to upload with your application (valid documents include an unofficial transcript, registrar enrollment verification letter, or official acceptance letter).
